Wadi Shaq Garden of Oda Mohammed One of the closest gardens to the village, yet in the high mountains, it is hidden in a narrow rocky valley. There is a big open sandy escarpment close to it, and a narrow canyon with seasonal granite water pools. There are small basins on top of the granite hill right above the garden, with spectacular views and many stone wind-shelters to make tea and relax. Mt. Katherina and Mt. Abbas Basha can be visited in a long day hike.
Garden Owner
Oda is one of the keenest gardeners, and he stays out in his garden almost all year. He is also a silversmith and a handyman, and many locals use his services to fix small electrical appliances such as radios or flashlights. He also carves wooden cigarette pipes which are popular with locals for smoking the Bedouin tobaco, the hodri. The Garden
There are a lot of fruit trees, grapes, vegetables, a big water pool, stone huts and a number of shady arishas, simple shower and composting toilet. You can stay in one of the huts or shady places, inside or outside the garden, and above on the hill top in a stone wind-shelter under the sky.
