El Ehded I. Garden of Mohammed Hashash Located close to the village yet in a central location to the high mountain sights, it is one of two gardens in a short narrow valley. There are easy walks to all directions, either to wide open sandy plains or rocky peaks and look-out points. There are Byzantine ruins an hour away and the palace of Abbas Pasha, with views to the town, is a moderate day trek on a good path. There are many small, secluded basins above the valley floor with spectacular views to the whole range and the highest peak of Egypt, Mt. Katherina.
The garden is owned by Mohammed Hashash, an old man who is a trained nurse but prefers to work in his orchard. It is closed off with big stone walls from all sides, providing quietnes and privacy. There are a number of shady areas to relax within the garden, and a lot of fruit trees, grapes. There is one stone hut with a terrace, and a clean shower and toilet.
The garden is ideal for individuals and smaller groups who want a place which is easily reached from town, and centrally located to make short and easy daily walks to other places of interests. Longer treks can be made as well to further sights, and there are many quite spots right around the garden or within to relax. It is about 1,5 hours walk from town and involves only one moderate climb.
