Abu Tuweita Garden of Saad Salah Located in a secluded high mountain wadi close to many beautiful natural wonders. There are two big escarpments right next to the valley, one enclosed by granite walls, the other open with views down to Wadi Tinya. The canyon of Wadi Sagar, in the middle crystal clean water dripping to a fountain, is a short walk away. The granite water pools of Galt el Azraq on one side and of Kharazet el Shaq on the other are a days walk away, return. Whichever way you go, there are beautiful locations, but you can find plenty of quite places right around the garden as well.
The Garden is owned by Saad Salah, a friendly young man working with the medicinal plants project in town. He has been developing the garden to provide more comfort. There are pleasant, shady places in the garden to provide shelter in summer, and a couple of stone huts right outside the garden walls, which can be used in cold weather. An environmentally approved composting toilet has been built in the winter of 2008. There are many different fruit trees in the garden, and herbs are grown.
The garden is ideal for individuals and smaller groups who want to combine relaxation with exploring the high mountains and want to have a base from which day treks can be made to various locations. There are many good spots right around the garden to relax, meditate. It is about 4 hours walk away from the town of St. Catherine's, involving two climbs, so recommended for fitter people.
